Thank you for thinking of Habitat! As a social enterprise, we receive, process, and price donations to sell to the general public to raise money to support our affordable home ownership mission. Generally, we accept large and small items for residential use that are in great to excellent shape and in solid working order. Please see below for our general acceptance guidelines.

  • ALL appliances should be 10 years old or newer due to resource efficiencies and be in good, working order

  • Refrigerators & freezers
  • Gas & electric ranges

  • Cook tops

  • Washers & dryers

  • Dishwashers (manufactured after January 2014 due to CA lead-labeling laws)

  • Microwaves

  • Small kitchen appliances ( coffee maker, toasters, etc.)

  • Garbage disposals
  • ANY appliance older than 10 years old, missing parts, in need of repair, or otherwise broken

  • Trash compactors

  • Used HVAC

  • Used water heaters, water softeners, etc.

  • ALL upholstered furniture should be in excellent shape and 20 years old or newer

  • ALL wood, metal, & plastic furniture should be in good shape (some wear is okay) and 20 years old or newer

  • Sofas, love seats & sleepers

  • Arm chairs & rockers

  • Outdoor/patio furniture

  • Dining Sets

  • Dressers, nightstands, & small desks

  • ANY upholstered furniture that is stained, ripped, bagging, faded, covered in pet fur, or missing pieces

  • ANY furniture with significant gouges, missing components, in need of repair, or carrying water damage

  • NO mattresses, box springs or bed frames

  • Particle board or press board furniture that is wobbly or missing components
    Furniture older than 20 years that is not of significant value

  • Overly large items like entertainment centers or wall units

  • Commercial furniture without residential application

  • Mirrors & framed art

  • Glassware sets, barware sets, and dinnerware sets

  • Decorative objects (knick knacks), throw pillows, & picture frames

  • Area rugs that are soiled, stained, moldy, damaged, custom shapes or oversized

  • Flat screen TVs in good, working order with remote and stand (if applicable)

  • Small appliances

  • Tube TVs, VCRs, cassette players, and cassette tape players

  • Printers, fax machines or consumer electronics older than 20 years

  • ALL residential fixtures that can receive standard and chandelier-sized bulbs in good working order

  • Lamps in good working order with all necessary parts (shades preferred but not required)

  • Commercial light fixtures and electrical supplies

  • Ceiling fans

  • Track lighting

  • Can lighting

  • Used light bulbs

  • "Brass & glass" fixtures

  • Any fixtures w/ broken glass

  • Budget or "contractor" grade lighting fixtures

Flooringflooring
  • Min. 150 sqft wood or laminate flooring (still in original box)

  • Ceramic floor tile (min. 150 sqft) of matching color in original box

  • Loose laminate flooring or tile

  • Salvaged flooring

  • Subflooring materials (either sheet goods or glues, etc.)

  • Bathroom vanities

  • NEW Under mount & pedestal sinks without faucets (or salvaged of significant value)

  • Decorative bathroom fixtures in their original packaging

  • NEW low-flow toilets that are 1.28 gallons per flush (gpf) in box (or salvaged of significant value)

  • NEW shower stalls, shower bases & pans in box

  • Jacuzzi tubs

  • Anything with rust, corrosion or non-manufacturer paint

  • Anything with chips, cracks, scratches, caulking, rust, glue or large stains

  • Anything custom-colored

  • Complete modern & modular kitchen cabinet sets in excellent condition

  • Bathroom vanities & medicine cabinets in excellent condition

  • Cabinets with water damage or mold
  • Counter tops

  • Cabinets with missing doors or drawers

  • Exterior doors up to 80” tall in excellent condition

  • NEW solid-core interior doors

  • Sliding patio doors with frame intact and no broken seals

  • Doors that have rot, broken glass, splintering or protruding nails

SCHEDULE A PICKUP

Our donation pick-up service is reserved for large, multiple items  located in  Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo Counties.

We ask for the following monetary donations to offset fuel costs:

DROP OFF YOUR DONATION

Donations can be dropped off during store hours from Tuesday–Sunday 10am–3:30pm.

We will screen your items and, if accepted, will help you unload and give you a tax receipt.
